European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2025
The ERC Guidelines 2025, launched in Rotterdam on 22 October 2025, replace the 2021 edition and run to twelve chapters — epidemiology, systems saving lives, adult basic and advanced life support, special circumstances, post-resuscitation care, newborn and paediatric life support, ethics, education and first aid. They are built on the ILCOR consensus on science and shift several long-standing positions: targeted temperature management gives way to temperature control with active fever prevention, extracorporeal CPR is formalised as a rescue option in selected patients and systems, and the adult ALS chapter reworks defibrillation strategy, airway management and the route of drug delivery. This page groups the landmark trials from our register that underpin those chapters by theme, so a recommendation can be traced back to the randomised evidence behind it.
