The companion to Met-HeFT, and it lands in the same place: across the randomised evidence in heart failure and in ischaemic heart disease, metformin does not protect against cardiovascular events. Read with the trial, the observational signal that made metformin a cardiovascular drug looks like confounding by who gets prescribed it. Numbers beyond the direction were not in the material released with the presentation; this entry will carry them when the publication appears.
