2025 ESC Guidelines for the management of cardiovascular disease and pregnancy
The 2025 ESC guideline treats pregnancy as a cardiovascular stress test that many women fail for the first time, and it builds pre-conception counselling, the modified WHO risk classification and the Pregnancy Heart Team into routine care. Its firmest randomised evidence is in hypertensive disorders — where CHAP finally settled the question of whether to treat mild chronic hypertension — and in pre-eclampsia prophylaxis.
This guideline cites 3 of the 199 landmark trials in our Cardiology register.
