2023 ESC Guidelines for the management of endocarditis
The 2023 ESC endocarditis guideline formalises the Endocarditis Team, widens the role of multimodality imaging, opens the door to outpatient and partial oral antibiotic therapy, and abandons routine aminoglycoside combination therapy in native-valve staphylococcal disease. Randomised evidence in endocarditis is unusually thin — the three trials below are essentially all of it, and the guideline's remaining recommendations rest on cohorts and expert consensus.
This guideline cites 3 of the 199 landmark trials in our Cardiology register.
