2020 ESC Guidelines for the management of adult congenital heart disease
Adult congenital heart disease is the field where the patients outlived the evidence: survivors of childhood surgery now outnumber children with congenital defects, yet almost nothing here has been tested in a randomised trial. The three below are the exceptions — advanced pulmonary vasodilator therapy in Eisenmenger syndrome and in the Fontan circulation — and the rest of the guideline rests on registries and expert consensus.
This guideline cites 2 of the 199 landmark trials in our Cardiology register.
