2019 ESC Guidelines for the management of patients with supraventricular tachycardia
The 2019 ESC guideline puts vagal manoeuvres and adenosine first in the acute termination of supraventricular tachycardia, makes catheter ablation the definitive therapy for symptomatic AVNRT and AVRT, and — importantly — recommends electrophysiological risk stratification rather than blanket ablation in asymptomatic pre-excitation. The randomised evidence in this field is unusually sparse; the three trials below carry a disproportionate share of it.
This guideline cites 3 of the 199 landmark trials in our Cardiology register.
