2019 ESC Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of acute pulmonary embolism
The 2019 ESC guideline makes direct oral anticoagulants the default in acute pulmonary embolism, formalises risk stratification by haemodynamics, right-ventricular function and biomarkers, and confines full-dose systemic fibrinolysis to high-risk disease and to rescue in deteriorating intermediate-risk patients.
